Roma Subalterna
A project on the collection of the former italian museum of colonies, part of a collective book and exhibition.

Roma Subalterna i
nvestigates the utopia of drafting a guide to Rome. Beginning with colonial echoes, the image of the great city consists of particles, subalterns, autonomies, social forms and architectures.
The research feeds on unpublished bibliographies, out of editorial models such as the capital’s rionali guides or adventure diaries on urban suburbs in the 1990s.
Thinking of the term “subaltern” as a condition and experience, and not as a category, is the means to trigger a process that leads to a possibility of decolonizing the gaze.
